If you’re not registered you can’t vote!
If you are not registered to vote you will not be able to take part in future elections.
Since the summer of 2014 people registering to vote in England and Wales have had to register as individuals, using a secure online system. Therefore you as an individual are responsible for checking with the council if you are on the electoral register. If you are not then to be included on the electoral register you should use the website: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You can also use the website to update your name, address or other details on the electoral register.
Registering takes around five minutes and you’ll need your National Insurance number.
For more information see the Bolton Council Website.
Please make sure that you are registered so that you can play your part in the democratic processes of the country.
Vote by Post
If you’re on holiday on election day, it’s pouring with rain or if you are disabled, infirm or not able to leave the house for any reason then why not register to vote by post? Bolton Council will send your ballot paper to you by Royal Mail, typically two weeks before polling day. All you then have to do is make your choice and return it in the pre-paid envelope.
Anyone can register for a postal vote and you don’t have to have a reason to do so.
